"In the 1950s & 60s, watches were a necessity," notes Susan Walker Weiand, third generation family member of Walkers 'n Daughters Jewelry, Bismarck, ND.
Susan is a lifelong resident of North Dakota's Capital City and joyfully recaptures the beautiful history of her family's downtown business which had begun with her grandfather in 1934.
In the 1950s, a necessity of a future bride--and maybe her groom or mother--was to plan a trip to her local jewelry store to register for china, glassware, and silver flatware. At the time, those necessities were the "cat's meow" of gifts to receive at a bridal shower or wedding. Do you remember those days?
But, Susan also tells Jackie and Janine how gift selections of a bride and groom have not only metamorphosed from then to now but how the generations of her family's business have "rolled with the punches" of time as retailers, creating a legacy well loved and remembered!
