"Young women do not do math and science," was told to Myrna Whigham, Ames, IA, in the mid 20th century.
Yet, that statement did not stop Myrna from breaking the "glass ceiling" for thousands of young girls who, years later, were introduced into the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) program in their high schools.
Raised on a northwest Missouri farm in the 1950s, Myrna learned the value of hard work as their family survived the 1952 Missouri River flood.
How did small-community fried-chicken hospitality figure into Myrna's life? And, how and why did Myrna meander the roadblocks of her STEM life? You'll learn of her life in Uganda with husband, Keith, and their young children. It's an exciting story with an "I-can-do-this" spirit!
